Christine van der Pijl-Ketel
Christine Louise Ketel obtained a BA in Japanese Language and Literature at the University of Leiden in 1972, received her MA in Art and Archaeology of East Asia at the University of Amsterdam in 1978, and her PhD at Leiden University, Asian Studies in 2021. She is editor of The Ceramic Load of the Witte Leeuw (1613), co-editor of ‘Avondster Project’ (Underwater archaeological research in Galle, Sri Lanka 2003-2005), and contributed to the catalogue: Kraak Porcelain by Jorge Welsh Publications in 2009. She has written various articles in Aziatische Kunst (Bulletin KVVAK); Vormen uit Vuur (Bulletin of the Society of the Glass and Ceramic Society) and the Transactions of the Oriental Ceramic Society, London. Between 2003 and 2019, she has been invited to numerous international conferences, and has presented papers on Chinese ceramics for the Dutch market during the first half of the seventeenth century, as well as Chinese export ceramics salvaged from shipwrecks.
