Willemijn van Noord

Willemijn van Noord is curator of the Chinese collections of the National Museum of World Cultures (which includes the National Museum of Ethnology in Leiden and the Tropenmuseum Amsterdam) and of the Wereldmuseum Rotterdam. After completing her studies in archaeology and sinology at Leiden University and the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, she has worked as trainee-curator at the British Museum and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, focusing on Ming dynasty (1368–1644) porcelain and Qing dynasty (1644–1911) glass and snuff-bottles. She is currently completing her dissertation ‘Materialising China: Material Culture and Perceptions of China in the Late Seventeenth-Century Dutch Republic’.
