Anne Gerritsen
Anne Gerritsen is Chair of Asian Art at Leiden University. This professorship, which she combines with her tenure at the Department of History of the University of Warwick, is supported by the Royal Asian Art Society in the Netherlands, the Hulsewé-Wazniewski Foundation, Isaac Alfred Ailion Foundation and the Jan Menze van Diepen Foundation. Anne has studied Languages and Cultures of China at Leiden University and obtained her doctorate at Harvard University in Boston, USA. Her first book, ‘Ji’an literati and the local in Song-Yuan-Ming China’ was published by Brill in 2007 and her second book, ‘The City of Blue and White: Chinese porcelain and the early modern world’ by Cambridge University Press in 2020. She also published several editions of studies on material culture of early modern global exchanges, together with, among others, Giorgio Riello, such as ‘Writing Material Culture History’ (2021) and ‘Global Lives of Things’ (2016).
