Dish on footring, spreading sides. Decorated in underglaze blue. In the centre a kylin in a landscape, on the sides twelve flying cranes. On the outside six circles containing a galloping horse and a flame motif. On the base the four-character mark wan fu you tong (infinite luck be with you). Kylins are mythical animals with a scaly body, a horn, a bushy tail, a mane and cloven hooves. They bring good luck and many offspring, and are the guardians of all hairy creatures. The crane is a symbol of longevity and wisdom. Good wishes abound on this dish and are emphasised by the mark on the base.
