Oviform jar on footring; short wide neck. The original lid is missing and has been replaced by a 20th-century Dutch silver cover. Decorated in early enamels with flowering plants and birds. Round the foot, on the shoulder and round the neck decorative bands in red. Small jars of this design and shape are common. It is interesting to note how the flying bird and the large flowers still evoke the river scenes with waterfowl seen on Kraak porcelain, while the bird sitting on a branch is related to the depictions on Kakiemon porcelain.
