Bowl on footring, spreading sides. Decorated in underglaze blue with a continuous motif of finely painted scrolls with trumpet flowers. Inside on the base a similar trumpet flower in a circle. Around the foot a band with lotus-petal shaped motifs, formed{?J} by scrolls. On the base the six-character mark Chenghua in a double circle. The decoration evokes similar richly varied continuous flower and scroll patterns of the Ming period, a source of inspiration possibly also indicated by the Ming mark.
