Teacup and saucer on footring, spreading mouthrim and sides. The cup is double-walled with an open-worked pattern of entwined cash motifs and two large chrysanthemums. The sides of the saucer are also open-worked with a similar pattern and half-chrysanthemums. Decorated in underglaze blue. Around the outside of the mouthrim of the cup a spiral band, inside around the mouthrim and on the saucer rim a band of diaper pattern. On the saucer a centrally placed floral motif, around it three jars with flowering plants. A rectangular hallmark on the base. For comments, see cat. 64. The cash motif obviously symbolises wealth, the chrysanthemums spring, long life, and steadfastness. The Van Diepen Collection has six of these teacups and saucers.
