Tazza or flat dish on high, spreading hollow foot. Decorated in underglaze blue. In the centre a hexagonal panel with a flowering peony. Around it and connected at the sides of the hexagon lotus-petal shaped panels with alternately a vase or a flowering plant. In between similarly shaped panels with diamond-work. Around the rim single flowers reserved in white on a blue ground. On the foot pendent pointed half-leaves, around the rim of the foot a band with cloud motifs. On the base inside the foot the mark AK. This Chinese cake dish or tazza is a fine example of East-West interaction in ceramic production. It is derived from a late 17th-century example produced in the factory De Grieksche A in Delft, The Netherlands. The Chinese potter was faithful to the original, even copying the (not understood) mark AK, from Adrianus Kocx, the owner of the factory from 1686–1701. The decoration on the Delft piece was itself strongly influenced by Kangxi porcelain, see the lotus-petal shaped panels in the centre and the decorative bands around the foot.
